Qurbani is not merely a ritual it is a deeply spiritual act that nurtures the heart and soul.

  1. Closeness to Allah (SWT)

Qurbani is an act done purely for Allah (SWT)’s pleasure.

“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah (SWT), but it is your piety that reaches Him.”
(Surah Al-Hajj 22:37)

Giving up something valuable teaches humility and detachment from material possessions.

Qurbani reminds us of the countless blessings we often take for granted health, wealth and sustenance.

By sharing meat with the less fortunate, Qurbani fosters unity and care within the Ummah, especially important in contexts like Qurbani in South Africa, where many communities face economic hardship.

When is Qurbani Performed?

Qurbani is performed during specific days in Dhul Hijjah:

  • 10th Dhul Hijjah (Eid ul-Adha) – after the Eid prayer
  • 11th and 12th Dhul Hijjah – the days of Tashreeq

Important Timing Rule:

Qurbani must only be performed after the Eid Salah. Any sacrifice done before the prayer is not valid as Qurbani.

  • Qurbani Days: 27–29 May 2026
